Reviews of Event TR5 Tuned Reference Biamplified Studio Monitors (Pair)

Sound:
I just demo'd these monitors against the Alesis MKII's, today, at Guitar center. I brought in my own CD's, having just listened to one song from each very carefully. The TR5 sounded far better than the MKII. And that was exactly the problem with them. You see, you don't want monitors that sound GREAT! You want monitors that sound ACCURATE! When I cranked the treble up, and utilized the bass boost feature on my car stereo, they sounded more like the TR5, than the Alesis, but when I turned the bass boost off, and the treble and bass flat. It sounded more like the Alesis. What we want in our reference monitors is the TRUTH, as ugly as that may be. Unlike women, we REALLY DO want to KNOW if those pants make us look FAT! If these monitors were a man, they would lie to you and tell you that you look great in those pants! But as soon as you wear that mix out in public, you'll find out that they were only flattering you.
