Reviews of Mackie HR626 Active Studio Reference Monitor
Sound: The stereo image is SO WIDE on this pair. With the right placement they are capable of perfectly reproducing acoustics with unbelievable clarity. The sound quality is crisp, sweet and not too bright either. This makes it ideal for my long jamming sessions! The frequency response in the low to mid range beat the Mackie 1024s (my friend's got a pair). This is better for me when doing the final mixdown on my tunes...I switch them between vertical and horizontal to get a better feel of my mixes. I find the sound travels in a narrower but longer field vertically and vice versa in horizontally. The result of me buying this pair of monitors is that now my friends are coming round to use them to mixdown their stuff. I wonder why....I find these monitors to be unique for its price range. They beat the Dynaudio BM15A and Genelec 1031 without a sweat. The only ones that come close the 626's are the ADAM S3A's but you need some serious cash..... This is more of a step up though, especially if you get the accompanying ADAM sub.
