Reviews of MXR M151 Doubleshot Distortion Pedal
Feature: This is the exact setup I wanted. Two channels with completely separate eq's. Why don't more effects companies think like this?
Quality: Built like a fricken' tank! One of the little buttons broke off prior to me picking it up used, but I simply replaced it with the cap of a ballpoint pen. Works like a charm now!
Value: Had to search around to get the price down around $100, but found a good deal on ebay.
Desirability: Definitely has a VooDoo aura about it.
Sound: Very loud pedal. Not excessively noisy, but difficult to control at bedroom levels. I was trying to achieve a Tubescreamer sound on the first channel and a Marshall stack on the other. I got close, but both sounds seemed a bit compressed and quacky. I am playing a Fender 50's Reissue with Van Zandt pickups through a Mesa Boogie DC-2 combo. The Boogie may have been over coloring my sound...
Support: Never had to mess with them, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt since they build these things so solid.
Overall: I'm actually selling it. I have the extreme sound from my Boogie, and just need a simple blues and AC/DC sound. Thinking of going with a Radial Tonebone Classic or maybe a Tech21 Sansamp Tri-O.D.
