Reviews of Steinberg System4 Bundle Cubase SL with MI4 (Macintosh and Windows) Feature: This is just another USB 24-bit stereo audio/MIDI interface, but it is thoughtfully designed, most of the jacks/ports on one side and the preamps on the other. It has powered mic preamps,coaxial SPDIF, supports balanced line 1 and 2, has effect inserts and pads to adjust dB: everything you need if you are multitracking solo, all in one place. It’s a pity it’s not USB2.0, but 2 in 2 out takes up about one third of the bandwidth on one USB1.1 port. Make sure the port you use is not shared (WinXP is cavalier about this and its impossible for a layperson to reset all the interrupt requests manually). It's built like a tank, when the cabling gets done its great not to have a featherweight plastic unit. Also good for shielding. Everything is useful, and there are no problems unless you need optical SPDIF or ADAT Quality: excellent build quality, and I like Cubase SL2 Value: A bit expensive, but not bad compared with SL2 software standalone. Sound: The sound is fine. Dropout/crackle/crash resulted from one or all of the following: a shared IRQ, ACPI setup, "multiprocesser" confusion and USB and BIOS problems on an ECS (not very) "Intel-compatible" PF2 Lite mainboard (audiophiles avoid), which has an Intel 865G chipset but is not compatible with the appropriate Intel .inf drivers.
