Reviews of Vox Brian May Special Guitar Combo Amplifier
Feature: I love the flexibility of being able to drive another amp for another completely different sound and having a recording output. This is NOT an amp for playing clean jazz through, so don't look for THAT kind of flexibility! For what it does, though, it has the features I need.
Quality: To some degree this is made down to a price, but not to the degree of affecting reliability - at least so far, after a year's fairly hard use. Fit and finish on some of the trim is not up to AC30 standards, but neither is the price!
Value: I think it's superb value for money.
Desirability: If this amp was taken, I'd immediately replace it.
Sound: I use my Guild Brian May guitars through numrous amps - vintage tweed Fender, vintage Selmer, Dean Markley Signature (tube 60w). BUT when you want to sound like Brian - especially buiding up that incredible 'orchestration' layered sound with multi-tracking, nothing else comes close. It sounds very 'big' for such a tiny amp.
Support: One of my amps didn't have a manual, and I was referred to a website to download one. Effective for documentation, but I would have preferred a factory printed manual.
Overall: There really isn't another product likely to come along that would compare.
